Pre-Review Check

Posting on eiRxiv is a form of publishing, and is permanent. Before any manuscript can be posted on eiRxiv, we therefore need permission from all adult authors and parents/guardians of student authors. We also want to make sure everyone knows and agrees to follow the rules of our platform.

Student author agreement: The primary student author confirms that they have followed all of our guidelines for doing their research and creating their manuscript, and that the manuscript is original and academically honest. The student also agrees to follow the rules of using our platform. This agreement must be completed in order to start the submission process and invite the corresponding adult author.

Corresponding (adult) author agreement: The adult corresponding author (a parent/guardian or mentor) confirms that they have reviewed the manuscript and checked that it meets all of our requirements before they submit it for the student. The corresponding adult author also agrees to follow the rules of using our platform, and promises to guide the student in making any manuscript changes our editors may request. This agreement must be completed to complete the submission process.

Consent forms: The student author(s), their parents/guardians, and any adult authors confirm they understand posting on eiRxiv is permanent and agree to the full terms of publication. Once posted, the manuscript, the scientific feedback, and the author information is permanently publicly available. The consent forms document that the authors understand this and give their permission for the manuscript to be posted on eiRxiv.  Consent forms are collected after prereview and prior to posting, and must be signed in order to have the manuscript posted.

Why this matters:

These forms help ensure that student authors, their parents, their teachers, and any other adult mentors involved all legally agree to post their manuscript on eiRxiv and comply with eiRxiv’s terms of use. As many of our student authors are under 18, these consent forms also ensure eiRxiv is protecting student privacy and safety when sharing content online in compliance with federal regulations.

What it means to post a manuscript on eiRxiv:

Posting a manuscript on eiRixv is permanent. Each posted manuscript will receive a unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier). This makes it easier for readers to find, cite, and share the research. It’s important to remember that a DOI is a permanent identifier – meaning the manuscript’s title, publication date, and any other identifying data will be permanently associated with each author’s name. Before you submit your manuscript, please ensure all authors read the sample consent form and are comfortable with its terms and conditions.
